Part #8633 PSB: Power steering box for 1959-64 full-size Chevrolets

MESA, Ariz. -- Wandering is a good thing if you like to go exploring in your classic Chevy; it’s not so good if your car is wandering all over the road. Fortunately, that problem can be fixed with a new steering box from Impala Bob’s.

These remanufactured, OEM steering boxes, for both manual and power steering, are available for all 1959-76 full-size Chevrolets, including Impala, Caprice, Bel Air and Biscayne. Steering boxes are also available for 1964-72 Chevelle and El Camino, 1967-69 Camaro and 1967-87 full-size trucks, Suburban and Blazer. Priced at $249.99 with a limited lifetime warranty, the steering boxes work with the original linkage and rag joints, so no adapting is needed. Customers can order online or call 1-800-IMPALAS (1-800-467-2527).

“If it feels like your car doesn’t handle or hold the road the way it used to, you’re probably right,” said Impala Bob’s President Bob Antebi. “Replacing a worn out steering box is a good idea for safety, but you’ll also enjoy driving your car a lot more.”

Both manual and power steering boxes retain the OEM steering ratios. For 1959-64 models with manual steering, the ratio is 26:1 ratio; power steering cars have a 22:1 ratio. Both come with all the necessary mounting hardware.
  • Power steering pump with reservoir, $99.99
  • Steering center link, with power steering, $119.99
  • Power steering control valve, $299.99
  • Power steering slave cylinder, $199.99
  • Idler arm assembly, $119.99
  • 1963-64 pitman arm, with manual steering, $149.99
  • Lower steering column bearing, $24.99
  • Steering coupler kit (rag joint) with hardware, $19.99
